Speaking of school...

I would like to add that as of October 27, November 14, and December 11th, I was accepted into Indiana State, Ball State, and Purdue, respectively :D

And I got to fly on Nov. 14 [last day of Peter Pan[since I can't remember if I mentioned it or not]]. Just one more thing I can mark off my Bucket list from this year XD

School.

Oh yeah... That academic thing in between rehearsals...

Well... the first semester's over. I passed Gov and Econ, with A's in both suprisingly.

Jazz Band, Band, and EB... what grade do you THINK I got??

Health was just as I suspected-- easy, stuff I already knew, immature sophmore boys [although their fight about sexuality was quite interesting], and an A.

Music Theory was quite a ride... Half music atudents, half... not. The first nine weeks were really simple [stuff you learn in middle school], and the second nine weeks were ok once Mr. A pounded the info into your head 1375849036729 times. I never thought I would like that class as much as I do, but the people are awesome.

That leaves Ap Calculus. Stupid, stupid math [sorry Ryan!]. I got along ok with it until last week. It's just really frustrating that I keep getting F's without the cirve on tests. I needed an 80 on the test last week to keep my B, but I got a 74.

It probably sounds stupid to most of you to so worked up over one grade, but... my parents really are powerschool nazis.

So, there's the 1st semester for ya.

Next semester I have
B1 Band
B2 Jazz
B3 Cadet teaching
B4 Speech

G1 Eb
G2 AP Calc
G3 Music Theory
G4 W131

I'll let you know how the double dose of Oliver works out :D

Drama.

Not HS drama.

Drama.

I'd much rather forget the first of the two.

At the beginning of the year-- I was beyond sad. I really was. [I already talked about this, so feel free to skip to the next paragraph] I couldn't try out for Caught in the Act b/c of marching band, and I had to miss a lot of officer meetings, but...

Peter Pan. Wow. I did my tectress thing and bounced between both being an Indian and a stageninja the best I could. The set was huge-- a pepto bismal pick nursury, revolving woods/underground [Emily really outdid herself], and... wow. We all thought Beauty and the Beast was great...

I can't really say much more about it b/c I was at Band all the time, and right after Peter Pan was Thanksgiving, so Drama came to a halt for a while-- long story short I couldn't try out for Diinner Theatre, even though I could've now [coughjazzbandcough] and I tried out for the One Acts on Thursday, the last day of school for the semester. I think it was probably my second to best monologue. Tucker even asked me if I'd cut my hair, and I said yes. The only bad thing is now we all get to wait until after winter break to see the cast list XD

Band reminds me...

October 7th...

Probably the best day of Paula's teenage life.

Brian, one of the nicest guys I know besides Ryan, asked her to marry him.

She told me on the 10th [a Saturday before a competition] when I inquired about all the wedding talk.

Me and Courtney both have the honor of being her Matrons of Honor.

... I'm so happy for them. Really. ^_^

Band.

Agian, I've kinda failed at keeping up-- but hey, I remember everything...

Like I said in the previous post, it was quite a season. I gave up a lot in the sense of trying out for plays, sleep, and my grade in Calc, but....

When Regionals came... we were 4th. Before they [ISSMA] came up with the idea of Semi-State-- we would've gone to State at Lucus Oil... I kinda think I'm the only one that realized this at Semi-State...

It was kind of an off day-- Semi-state. It was cold, practice was extra long... But when we got there, it was warmer, Emily and Hermes improved my mood [along with Hairyman :)], and we marched a pretty good show. After heading back to the buses and eating, we all got to sit in the parent setion [sitting with my parents and Hermes'] AND we watched pretty much the most amazing show in the universe [Willy Wonka and Jaws kinda go together-- who knew?]. We went back to the bus and walked together to the back corner of the stadium where we waited for awards.

That's where a weird feeling always sets in. Suddenly you really pay attention to the looks on peoples faces. The handholding, the biting lips... the absence of the announcer saying "Greenfield-Central Cougar Pride."

We 'pulled it in' and made a small circle around Mr. A as he talked-- and I just couldn't listen. I balled up on the ground and started crying. I composed myself enough to listen to Jessica, the Guard instructor say this: "I see a lot of you guys have tears in your eyes, but I really don't think it's because we're not going to State-- it's because you just marched your last show."

And she's right.

I'm not doing DCI. I don't have the endurance for it. Or the time, really. Hopefully I'm going back to Germany this summer, and I have orientation for Ball State.

...............

I kinda wonder if I would've done Marching Band if Karree hadn't given me the Trumpet Football.

But then I realize--

Yeah.

I would've.

I'm not gonna lie.

I hate being branded as 'a band kid' in Drama.

I hate concert band.

And I really wanted to punch something when I couldn't try out for It's A Howl OR Caught in the Act...

But I love Marching.

I owe a REALLY big explanation to my future self...

I started this blog because, quite frankly, I wanted it to be just like Zaq's 180 Day Blog.

I wanted document the random everyday happenings and hope to look back on this in a few years remembering all the great things :)

But apparently I set the bar too high at a blog post for every single day :/

Maybe shooting for once a week would be more realistic?

It's been about six weeks since I last updated this, so let's attempt to go back in time...

Our senior high school football games have come and gone... well, the last one is tomorrow. Senior Night. I get to 'walk down the red carpet' with my mom and Mike, while they read off my small list of accomplishments during my high school career.... 4 year member of the Band.... daughter of Glenda and Mike Karnes, and the late Billy Jack.... involved in BLT, Jazz Band, Drama, ITS, NHS.... plans to go to BSU majoring in Theatre Ed.... wait, where was I?

Oh yeah, we've lost every home game XD

I've had more homework than ever before...

I've actually seen Star Wars, Ep. I & II.... although I'm not planning on watching the rest anytime soon,

Because attending a theatre reunion turned out to be well... not the best day of my adolescent life...

Band has had a crazy season. We literally went from the worst in our class to the best. Only this weekend [Regionals] will tell our future.

And after Band comes Drama.... One of the reasons I've stressed doing well this season [as any BLT or trumpet section member will tell you] is because I've given up more this year than I ever have before. I wasn't involved in the Rookie Show because I thought it would be unfair to Chris to miss rehearsal all the time for band. I gave up auditioning for 'It's A Howl' b/c of BLT meetings. Granted I skipped a sectional for the same play over the summer, and went to Greece, I've put in so many extra hours trying to get caught up on the drill and music.... I don't want to look but on what I sacrificed and say it was for nothing....

Focus Fet... Drama. The musical has started ^.^ As Prof. Dalhn put it [when he finally called me so we could discuss the Theatre Program at Ball State[[more on that later]]], I'm one of Tiger Lily's gang, and I couldn't be happier that Amy is Wendy and John is Hook. Like last year, I signed up to do tech too, so... yeah XD I just can't leave my unintentional roots! I can't! XD

Ok... I think the story about the Theatre Program at BSU is better reserved for my other blog. Check it out on Monday.

Other than that.... I got the new Bowling For Soup album "Sorry for Partyin'" yesterday [couldn't get it Tuesday b/c of tech and band], and it's pretty much guaranteed that Mike is paying for my tattoo since the first 9 weeks are coming to a close tomorrow.

Enough of an update for ya?

Take that, Global Warming!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6HFNXOzcLlI&feature=channel_page

I never remember what I did in the mornings when I write this a day late. I do remember it was SSR, I was sitting by my locker, and Kathleen commented on the rest of my outfit not matching my shoes, BECAUSE it was SSR XD

I went to Goverment and pretty much wrote out the entire skit for our thing about popular sovereignty.
Then did work.
BUT! "In honor of Youtube working," we got to request songs for the day for Mr. Bruck to play.
So, of course, I chose Green Christmas,
which I then explained to me tablemates as it played in the background.
Too bad we couldn't watch the video, though XD

Then we made more bracelets in Econ.
And saw Bart Simpson naked.

And talked to Mr. English one-on-one.
Scary.
Well, only because I didn't have THIS homework done, since I thought ALL the others were due that day.

THAT'S what I did in the morning! All my past homework!

But then I did it during lunch.

And we had Band until six, so I missed the Drama call out meeting, which Joe apparently HAD to remind me about.

Then Joey and Malachi got in a fight?

Idk.

But then I gave Hermes a ride to accommpany me to Dairy Queen before I had to go back for Meet the Teacher night. And apparently DQ is the happenin' place since we saw Kathleen, Mr. Chaney, Wilson, Seth, and his mom there.

And I had a Chocolate Xtreme Blizzard.

Which rocked.

You know, since I'm not allowed to have chocolate XD

Mr. Stick Man-man-man

I got to study for my nonexistant health quiz this morning in peace :D

Then I still didn't get to play 1st part all day in Jazz Band DX
I truly don't think I'll ever enjoy describing this part of my day...
If Mr. Angel thinks I can't play, he should just tell me...

But I got a good grade on my little paragraph about why Ryan is my role model in Health :)

Back in Music Theory, I got to redo my in class assignment 5 times,

while then doing nothing in EB.

Then I got to run home and finish my Government homework, eat, feed my frogs, and go to Band before seeing Renate.

Kleptomaniacs and Pumaman

I left my stupid glasses in my Band locker from Saturdays practice and had to remember my combo to get them.

I did what I could of my Calculus homework before Kathleen and Paula joined me and Charlie.

Government is always a blur to me.
I remember doing vocab...
Then we got new groups and attempted to make a skit.
Then we did more work.
Oh yeah!
Fire drill!

Then Econ.
Vocab.
Activity.
At least Amanda and Drew and Kathleen make it fun.
We had to make rings and bracelets and necklaces out of beads to represent the different types of economies,
but really we made bracelets and kept them :D

Ap Calc...
I LITERALLY don't remember ANYTHING from 2nd semester last year...
Mr. English keeps making my brain melt T_T

Then we had Band during class

Then I gave Charlie the stolen property bracelet and talked about Mudkips.

The most bittersweet day ever.

Alternately titled, "cos(playing, the sport of champions"
"Music Theory is easy so far"
"You Lose"
"Sex/Suggestive things"
"Treble v. Bass"
"Things you never thought your parents would do, and they actually didn't XD"

Needless to say, I'm never doing my Music Theory homework on time XD

I did my reading this morning and Charlie scared me with a bug.

I went off to Jazz Band where I was pretty much stripped of my 1st chair title.
I failed at leading a sectional b/c seth wouldn't shut up.
But I got a new mouthpiece.
Guess which parts were bitter and which one was sweet?

In health,
I got to talk about how/why Ryan was my role model.
That was actually pretty cool.
Then Mrs. Lawler talked about sex.

Back in the Music Dept.,
I got the reading done,
but guess who switched bass and treble clef on the assignment on the ONE measure they had to read out loud?
Me.
It was rather comical though, so I guess it was all good.
Then there was a fight at lunch.

Then good ol' EB. And Prey.
And a note about cos(playing XD
[Yes, I DID spell it right]

After school a saw Charlie and Hermes [Hermes meant to ask ChaCha where he could find a Mudkip costume for Tim for Halloweenn, but accidentally asked, "Where can I find a Mudkip?" ChaCha never replied :P]. I made two trips out to my car before going to Kathleen's house to watch The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe for our Econ project.

Then Donna, Paula, The Chaney's, Jacob, an I went to O'Charley's.

The movie and coming home were probably the most interesting parts of the day.
Besides getting cornered next to Charlie by a bug.

I came home the back way, turn a corner, and see a motorcycle in front of our mailbox.
I think, "What idiot just parked that in front of our mailbox?"
I had to make a U-turn at the stop sign to get into our driveway to avoid hitting the stupid thing before I realived:
Mom said that if we ever got a motorcycle, it would have to be small.
This is small.

I park my car and run to look at it: a Deep Purple Yamaha.
Beaten up; but it's a motorcycle.
In front of our house.
They went shopping without me?
When did they get it?
How did they drive it home without having a mototrcycle liscense?
... Why does it look like someone went mudding?

I thought the last thought again.

Mike saw me looking at it from inside through our glass door.
I ran inside wonder what they heck was going on before I tripped over a pair of muddy boots.

Michael came over.
And rode his new motorcycle over here.
Well... new to him.

Apparently it was his grandpa's, and the thing hasn't been running since 1984 [bought new in 1980], so Michael fixed it up because, well, he's Michael, and he knows how to do that sort of thing just as well as Brian does.

So...

Guess who's working on getting there motorcycle permit now? :D

The ACTUAL Thursday blog

As opposed to the fake Thursday blog...

I got really tired yesterday.

Anyway...

Government.
We did a worksheet...

Econ.
I became a business.
And lost a lot of money.

AP Calc.
I lived?

Lunch... I forgot it was a Blue day...
I can't believe how excited I was to see Emily XD

Then, we had Band.... until six.

Longest. Practice. Ever.

Thursday, August 20, 2009

What a crappy Wednesday...

I guess the actually morning part went ok.

It was the going to Jazz Band part that started it all.

Luckily Seth reminded me about our homework [play a commericial jingle by ear], which I can do... just obviously not in front of my peers...

Health is so flat.
Idk.
The only interesting part was the mousetraps-in-a-box.

Then Music Theory.
First day of actual class.
I did my reading that morning,
and it really wasn't anything I didn't learn in 6th grade band.
It was a lot,
but it was 6th/7th grade band.

Then Lunch.
Chicken.
Again.

And EB.

In which my normal day dreaming was disturbed by Brent.
This was actually probably the highlight of my day.
He got Angel/Hicks to write me a pass and fill the water cart.
Yes, really.
T'was quite the adventure with brent, his charming personality, and my lack of upper body strength.

We puller the cart out to the field, went inside to practice the Star Bangled Banner Fanfare a bit, and promptly at 3:30, it started to pour.

Our efforts went to nothing.

All of band we worked on SSB, ran outside, started pouring promptly, ran inside the timy old yellow trailer in which my knee got banged up to 3x it's size, ran out, and wasted an entire practice of no one listening.

What a great Tuesday...

Wow... what a day... No, really.

In Government, we went about our normal routine, and Alex randomly chimed in, "You always seem so content with life."

I asked her what she meant, and she said simply that. I never seemed mad or upset or anything; " a 7 or an 8 on a ten point scale".

I was really shocked. Renee even said so. Most of the time... I'm pretty freakin' depressed.
Am I really doing that good of a job hiding it from everybody?

Onto Econ, I enlightened Amanda, Drew, and Kathleen on the Mike/tattoo situation.
I got out, "So apparently so far all my grades are A+'s because they're completion grades...." when Mrs. B [yes, I still don't know her name] cut me off, "That's great! You should really keep it up!"
Then I continued to add, "And if I keep it up, Mike will pay for my tattoo!"
To which Mrs. B fell silent XD

AP Calc, well... didn't eat me :D

Lunch might have, though.
Wilson's convinced that if me and him have a baby, Charlie won't notice.

Then Band.
But it was only for an hour and a half.
At first.
And it was inside :D

Then I got to take Charlie home while attempting to get Carpenter off my car XD

And I got to come home to an empty house since Mike's gone back to work :D

Then Band 6-9 was quite awesome.
It's always awesome when you can crack up laughing because the results of forgetting your dots are so comical....
And so... almost-accidentally-killing-a-few-guard-girls-ish XDDDDDDDDDDDDD

But THEN, after I got home to feed Pinky and The Brain, my awesome African Dwarf Frogs, who now know I'm their mommy, Mike has given permission to my mom to get a tattoo if my GPA is OVER 4.0

If only they had thought about bribing me with tattoos and piercings my freshmen year XD

Hugging 101

"You taking hugging 101 next semester?"
"Yeah; I'm dropping Cadet Teaching XD"

Probably one of my better first Monday's.

I waved to Chris as I walked into school and made my way to my locker, which Hermes and I have deemed useless, since I'm in the music department 24/7, and all of my belongings have made their way down there.

I sat with Charlie at my usual spot last year until kathleen and Thomas came by, then made my way to Jazz Band, which suprisingly went extremely well, since I could play 1st part with no epic problems, and I didn't have to solo. Always a plus :D

In Health I learned I my be 1 of 30 people who die in a homocide. Don't ask. Stupid game.
But then we tried to calculate how long we'd live.

Back in the music department in, gasp, Music Theory, I got to test me knowledge of Treble and Bass Clef. Guess which one was harder?

Then lunch, and good ol' EB, where I then did none of my homework, like usual.

After school was more interesting.

I walked to my locker [which is now, at this point in the time space continum, empty] and Hermes found me, and reminded me that I owed him a hugged, I packed up my stuff, we collided the wrong, so guess who's taking Hugging 101 next semester?

After that I walked with Charlie to the library, browsing through the movie section, and reminding me that my pet snail might very well be dead.
Or hibernating.
We can't really tell.

BUT

on an entirely different note,

apparently,

if I get a 4.0 GPA this semester,

Mike said he'll pay for my tattoo.

Oh, the random things that come up during dinner conversations :D

Chik-Fil-A

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8vQY5MEhsWA

What a topic to start out watching on the SmartBoard in Government.

In which we did vocab, took notes, and were given a homework assignment.

Then Econ.

In which we did vocab, took notes, and were given a homework assignment.

Gov + Econ = The exact same class... all semester...

But me and Kathleen had quite the conversation in Econ.

K: "Want to work on our [movie] project together?"
Me: "Sure... What should we do?"
K: "How about Cinderella!"
Me: "I've never seen that movie..."
K + A + D: "WHAT?!?!"
Me: "Huh?"
K: "Cinderella? The Disney movie?!?"
Me: "Oh! Cinderella! Got it."
K: "What did you think I was talking about?"
Me "... Charlie... And movie education... Nevermind..."

Onto AP Calc,
I gave Mr. English a slight heart attack.
And in return,
he gave me one.

Then we had Band.

And the rest of the day, I proceeded to do nothing.

Band isn't trying to kill me at all...

More on that later.

Ahhhhh.... Day 2...

I started the day out drawing Charlie another map and trying to talk Fortuna into taking me back XD

But really, I went to Jazz band.
We went over the syllabus,
and that took the whole time.

Health.
Yeah.
That health class that I've managed to put off until now?
I'm the only senior in that class.
And the only person I know is James.
But Mrs. Lawler lightened the mood by openly admitting that we could talk about sex all we wanted, and she really wouldn't mind.

Music Theory.
In case you didn't get the subtle hint in the last entry, after my first day in AP Calc, well... nothing in this class can really scare me.
Syllabus and getting to know everyone took the entire time.
Even with 9 of us in the class.

But then came lunch and EB with Paula, and the world was at peace again.
I'm really glad I chose chocolate Pop Tarts for lunch that day.
Here's why:

Full band had practice til six on our newly seeded field.
Yay.
Tori wanted to talk to all the BLT members.
Not yay.

Most of what was said is not important to you readers, so I'll skipped to my point:

BLT members are encouraged to absain from soda and chocolate for the rest of the season to promote being fit and healthy.

... Yeah.

Mozoltov!

"But my iPods not playing Fiddler, anymore..."

Welcome to the first day of our senior year.

Here we are after our summer break.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

I'm sorry; that was rude.
..."What summer break?"

My entire summer consisted of P.E., It's A Howl, Jazz band, Marching Band, Charlie, Paula, Hermes, the fair, movies, and Greece. And more band and movies.

The main idea: I'm following in Zaq Cass's footstep and blogging our senior year.

Let's get started, shall we?

After watching Mr. Beal's lovely video on the school website, I pulled into the parking lot and entered the gym on the first day, as we always do, for the last time. Of course, today is no different then it usually is from an only-Amanda-and-ten-other-kids-get-here-this-early standpoint. I dropped off my packet of info that never changes and secured a block of seats for all of us. Luckily, we all found each other XD

As I'm seated between Charlie and Carolyn while Mr. Bryant rambles on about changes to the school and the new Japanese teacher that will never compare to Sensei, I drew Charlie a pretty map of the school so he wouldn't get lost :D

Blue 1: I take the scenic route to Government.
I discover I have no friends in that class.
I also discover Mr. Bruck is quite witty.
I get a book.

Blue 2: I take the not-so-scenic route to Econ.
It's the same classroom.
I discover Kathleen, Amanda, and Drew are also in this class,
and a guy in our class slept walk at Basic Training.
I get a book.

Blue 3: AP Calculus.
Why?
We started the lesson on the first day -.-
I may or may not have failed it.
I may or may not have any friends in this class -.-
But lunch with Emily and Kathleen makes up for it, right??

Oh.

I didn't mention our half days got taken away?

Silly me.

Blue 4: Band.
What can I say?
Hornline had practice until six.
Productive, but until six.
